Whether the marriage be performed for heterosexual or same-sex couples, they are
legal in the State of California. As of May 15, 2008, the California Supreme
Court ruled that a ban on same-sex marriages was unconstitutional.
Therefore, same-sex couples who would like to be married in the State of
California and have it recognized by the State, can now legally do this as of
June 17, 2008.
In order to have the marriage legally documented by the State of California, the
couple will need to make an appointment and obtain marriage paperwork that will
be signed at the time the marriage is performed by the presiding minister.
What
About Legal Protection?
It is important for couples to consider several factors,
regardless of whether they desire to formalize their
relationship in a marriage. Has each person properly filed a
Will? In the event of an accident or emergency, can the
partner gain access to papers, bank accounts or have Power
of Attorney? Have you made adequate provisions for each
other's welfare?
Recommendations
The Pastoral staff has established the following recommendations for a
couple prior to setting a date for their Marriage:
• It is recommended that couples have been in a committed relationship for
six months prior to a Marriage preparation session.
• It is recommended that the couple attend at least one Sunday worship
service so that they can become acquainted with the Pastoral Staff and
have a basic understanding of the spiritual life of this congregation.
• Following this, the couple should contact the church office to make an
appointment with the Pastor.
• It is normally expected that the couple will meet with the Pastor for
one session. Discussion will include the couple's willingness to make a
Christian commitment to their relationship with God & preparations for the
ceremony.
• As with the planning of every marriage, there are numerous questions and
the couple should plan to have enough time to take care of all the details
of preparation.
• Weddings at Glory Tabernacle Christian Center are performed by duly
credentialed clergy or by a bona fide minister from a mainline Christian
church.

Pastoral Honorarium $250
(An honorarium is paid according to arrangements made with the Pastor.
However, it must be paid no later than 15 days prior to the ceremony.)
Keyboardist, vocalist, audio or video recording is not provided by the
church.
